Clubspot supports the use of BBPOS WisePOS E countertop card readers with the PoS application. This article walks you through the steps to setup the card reader and begin taking transactions.

Getting Started

Unbox the card reader and put the battery into the back of the device. You may have to pull fairly hard to get the cover off of the reader so that you can insert the battery. Plug in the card reader using the power cord. Make sure to plug the power cord into the side with the power icon (lightening icon) and NOT the headphone jack. 🎧 🚫

Turn the card reader on by holding the power button on the right-hand side of the reader (you may have to hold for about 5 seconds).

Connect to wifi

You will be prompted to select a language for the reader and then to connect to wifi. Once you are able to connect to the wifi the reader will prompt to download updates. Tap to proceed. The card reader will go through a few reboot loops as it downloads new firmware.

Generate a Pairing Code

Once done with the initial updates the reader will display a pairing code. The pairing code is three words separated by dashes which will be plugged into Clubspot to establish the pairing. If the reader does not display the code see updating settings below.

Connecting the Card Reader to Clubspot:

In the Clubspot dashboard go to “Point of Sale” → “Settings” → “Readers.”

Click on [+New Reader] in the upper right-hand corner and enter a name for the new reader.

Enter the pairing code (including the dashes) and hit done. Once paired the reader will go through another round of firmware updates for about 15 minutes and will land on the home page when ready.

We strongly recommend physically labelling your card readers to match the name entered into Clubspot. That ensures you can easily identify which card physical card reader you are sending transactions to.

Using the Card Reader:

When checking out in the POS app, select “Card Reader,” and hit “Connect Now” or “Switch Readers” to begin using the new card reader! The last used card reader will default to the reader for that POS user.

Stripe also has a handy article here that provides further instructions on various card reader settings if there is a need to troubleshoot any errors.
