This information is intended as a resource to point your club’s domain to Clubspot’s servers, so the new website you built with Clubspot will be publicly visible.

<aside> 💡 Please note that this process can take a few hours to complete, during which time your website will not be accessible. Make sure that any content you wish to keep from your old site has been downloaded, or is accessible at another domain. If you have any services (eg. mail) hosted by your old provider, please let us know as the instructions below may be different.

  1. To cut over your website, you will need the login credentials to your domain registrar, or the ability to make DNS updates.
  2. Provide the domain you wish to have cut over to [email protected] and request the verification TXT record.
  3. Create a new DNS entry of type TXT and value the whole string (including the “google-site-verification”) provided by Clubspot support which should look like: google-site-verification=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  4. In addition to the TXT record, add or edit the following records in your DNS:
Type Host/Alias Value
A @ 216.239.32.21
A @ 216.239.34.21
A @ 216.239.36.21
A @ 216.239.38.21
AAAA @ 2001:4860:4802:32::15
AAAA @ 2001:4860:4802:34::15
AAAA @ 2001:4860:4802:36::15
AAAA @ 2001:4860:4802:38::15
CNAME www ghs.googlehosted.com
  1. Save the DNS updates and notify [email protected] that the updates have been made. At this stage we will be able to verify your domain and generate the SSL cert.
  2. You’re all done! It typically takes between 1-3 hours for propagation to complete, and for the SSL certificate to be added.

FAQs

Q: What will happen to my existing domain email?

A: If you already have emails set up to go to [email protected], and want to continue using this service, be sure to check your MX records doesn’t point to the same IP as your primary A record. If they point to the same server that we are cutting away from, we’ll want to add additional records to make sure your emails continue to come through. Most of the time, the MX records will point to a separate server, and should not need to be touched, but we will check this before cutting over, and let you know if additional action is necessary.

Q: How do I set up a domain email for the first time?

A: There are a lot of service providers for this, but if you are just looking to forward mail from something like [email protected][email protected], we recommend you take a look at https://improvmx.com/ which is a free service to set up domain email forwarding.
